Ceylon seeks more aid

CV.Z.P.A.-Reuter—C«t>vrt«he» COLOMBO, May 10. The Ceylon Government has requested further military aid from the Soviet Union, according to informed sources in Colombo.

Russia has already supplied Ceylon with six MiG fighters, two helicopters, 10 armoured cars and a quantity of arms and ammunition to help the Government in its fight against young Maoist insurgents in the island.

The sources disclosed that a transport aircraft with military aid from the United States had arrived at Bandaranaike Airport and was being unloaded. Since the insurgents took up arms against the Government on April 4, Britain, India, Pakistan, the United Arab Republic, the United States, the Soviet Union and Jugoslavia have all given aid to Ceylon.
