Dairy industry
Sir,—H. Griffiths wonders why the price of milk has not been increased to relieve the dairy-farmer. As one who has spent the greater part of a lifetime on the producing side of town milk (a branch of the dairy industry, apart from any other section) it is high time the producers of town milk received a just reward for their effort, expense, planning and long, tedious hours in maintaining a continuous supply for our daily needs, when: the price of beer went up, what publicity! What a boost! The sales continue. How about the powers that be having a go on the milk issue? Or will we continue to be pawns in
a game of soft pedalling to Government departments and producer boards, in my humble opinion, have taken the initiative away from where it belongs by a system gradually developed over the years channelling our efforts into a computerised method of "abbreviations and estimates.”—Yours, etc., F. W. FIECKEN. May 10, 1971.
