Royal hoax at Cranwell

The story of how the Prince of Wsles fooled his brothercadets at the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell, where he is taking an advanced flying course, is reported by "The Times.” It says that Buckingham Palace has confirmed that on April Fool’s Day, Prince Charles asked a porter to announce over the publicaddress system that cadets who had bought shoes from a certain military tailor should return them because a fault had been found in the heel. A representative of the firm would collect them from the equipment stores. An officer told "The Times": “About 200 cadets dutifully went along with their shoes to find, of course, no-one there.
