Crane jib breaks line

A severed power line narrowly missed striking a pedestrian at the intersection of Tuam and Barbadoes Streets about 1.59 pan. yesterday. The pedestrian jumped for safety as the line was ripped from a nearby building by the Jib of a mobile crane.

The crane was being driven south on Barbadoes Street when it hit a bump and the Jib bounced up and through the line.

The general manager of the Municipal Electricity Department (Mr J. P. Shelley) said yesterday afternoon that the line served only the building, and there had been little damage. It was repaired soon afterwards.
