SUPREME COURT Three months gaol
Kempster Guy Morris, aged 47, a workman, was sentenced to three months imprisonment by Mr Justice Wilson in the Supreme Court yesterday after he had pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful entry into the premises of Jack Weeks Tobacconists, 1062 Colombo Street, on January 27, with intent to commit a crime.
Mr M. G. L. Loughnan, for the accused, said that Morris had a minimal list of previous convictions. Last year he had been fined and placed on probation, but he had not fully paid the fine. He had spent periods in a hospital for alcoholism and had spent some months on compensation.
“The sentence must be one of imprisonment, but I will take into consideration that you acted in a state of intoxication and have no serious criminal history,” his Honour said. •
