Tough line on crays

(N.Z. Press Association)

HASTINGS, April 21

The Minister of Marine (Mr McCready) this afternoon promised a tougher line with all people connected with the traffic in undersize crayfish tails. “I’ll rewrite the act if necessary,” Mr McCready said in Hastings. “We are going to be tough on them, even if it means amending the act. We’ve got to stop it. It’s criminal and it is going to be stopped. “These people are committing a serious crime, as serious as if a farmer sent all his maiden heifers into the works,” he said.
