World drivers’ championship
(N.Z. Prtss Association; AUCKLAND. P. T. Wolfenden will ba leaving for the United States next Wednesday and so will miss the remaining four meetings this season in Auckland. It seems very unlikely, however, that his lead in the drivers’ premiership will be threatened. Two wins at New Plymouth last Saturday brought Wolfendan's score for the season to 50. Hie nearest rival, R. Young, has had 32 wins. Wolfenden la going to the United States primarily to participate in the world driving championship. He was New Zealand’s representative last year, when he finished fifth out of eight This year’s series will be held at 10 tracks in the United States and Canada from May 8 to May 15. There will be a minimum of three championship races at each meeting. Wolfenden will stay in the United States to drive the Australian hone, Mount Eden, in the international series at Yonkers Raceway In New York. Stella Frost which will represent New Zealand, is booked to leave Aucklang by air for the United States on Monday. She will bo accompanied by her trainer, D. J. Townley. Th* other horses scheduled to . travel in the same aircraft are Bon Amigo, Petermlte, Somerset Gold. Leading Light Monsignor, Eastern Star, Lord Trust Fort Waikato, Kelvin Home, Anne Fortes, Fair- Play, Lady Madonna, Quick Had, Do Inquire, Graham Adios, Gentle 1 Night Corsair, Evanderis Gift Valley Inn, Kran, Instematic, Hying Tutta, Waitara, Old Timer, Tasman, Barrhill, Alandria, Gold Oaks, Lord FUcka, nky Boy, Calmway, Volo D’Or, 1 Char Boy, Mark Hanover, and Scottish Abbey.
