Christchurch nurse appointed adviser
A former Christchurch woman has been appointed nurse adviser in the nursing division of the Department of Health.
She is Miss Margaret Henshall, who graduated from the Christchurch School of Nursing in 1955. She began her nursing career with the North Canterbury Hospital Board in Christchurch, where she became a staff nurse, ward sister, and eventually a tutor sister. After subsequent qualification as a midwife. Miss Henshall gained the additional qualification of Diploma of Nursing in 1960. A postgraduate course followed,
after which Miss Henshall served for a short time at Waikari, North Canterbury. She left Christchurch in 1962.
Five years later she obtained the Plunket Certificate in infant welfare. She has had wide experience in both nursing education and nursing- service, and spent two years in Samoa with Volunteer Service Abroad. She has also spent some time in Europe, adding to her nursing qualifications.
