Apology ends stoppage

(N.Z. Press Association)

NEW PLYMOUTH,

March 12.

All work was stopped at Borthwick’s Waitara freezing works at 10.15 a.m. this morning because of a dispute which was resolved when a works foreman apologised for swearing at a worker. The dispute arose when a foreman was alleged to have abused a worker to the extent that he was going to knock him down and on top of this used foul language, said Mr R. Rogers, the president of the Waitara Freezing Workers’ Union, today. A shed union meeting was called at 10.15 a.m. and all work was stopped until midday. Work started again normally at 1 p.m. after an apology was made.
