48 years with firm ended

Forty-eight years service with J. Ballantyne and Company, Ltd, ended last month for Mr H. Falkingham; for 32 years he was the firm’s senior interior decorator and outside furnishing representative. His work took him into thousands of city and Canterbury homes. He also specialised in theatre furnishing and was responsible for the decor and installation of many theatre curtains and furnishings in the city. Mr Falkingham, who retired because of ill health, was presented with an electric wall clock by the firm’s managing director (Mr R. F. Ballantyne) on behalf of the directors and staff.
