Japanese seek Aus. land
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) PERTH, March 12. The president of the Western Australian Farmers' Union, Sir Basil Embry, said yesterday that it was time to make a stand on the foreign take-over of Australian farmlands.
“If we do not, we are in trouble,” he said at the concluding session of the union’s annual conference.
Sir Basil Embry said that Japanese interests were seeking to buy Australian land. It was a serious problem, challenging the future of the whole fanning fraternity.
The union agreed to oppose large-scale foreign ownership of Australian land.
