FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression is moving south-east over northern New Zealand, while a weak cold front advances east over the South Island.

Forecast : Canterbury.—Moderate southerly winds; cloudy with drizzle patches; cool. Marlborough.—South-east winds, fresh in exposed places; scattered light rain more especially about the high country. Nelson.—Moderate southerlies or easterlies; fine at first, but some increase in cloud during the day; mild by day. Buller.—Moderate winds, southerlies or easterlies predominating; fine at first, but cloud increasing during the day; mild by day. Westland.—Moderate south-westerlies; cloud spreading from the west; cool. Outlook: mainly fair.
