Pedestrian crossing
Sir, —The light on the south-east corner of Cashel Street and Fitzgerald Avenue has not functioned correct!# for some time, preventing pedestrians from crossing Buses and cars turn at once from Cashel street into the avenue without regard for waiting pedestrians, who often have to jump back on; to the footpath at the north-' west corner after setting out I on the hazardous business of! crossing this busy thorough--fare. Pedestrians get no pro-1 tection here.—Yours, etc., ALL HAZARDS. March 2, 1971.
[The Town Clerk (Mr M. B. Hayes) replies: “A faulty lamp has recently been replaced at this intersection and the signals are now working satisfactorily. At any signalised intersection it is the responsibility of the leftturning motorist to yield right-of-way to pedestrians legally using the crossing.”]
