WARNING ON TRANSPORT

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 11. Some manufacturers and distributors were calling on carriers to undertake work they did not usually handle, a deputation from the New Zealand Carriers Association told the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon) yesterday. The Minister, in a statement released today, said that this was being done in an attempt to move goods being held up by the container dispute in Wellington. He appealed today to manufacturers and distributors to refrain from asking carriers to carry out work that they normally did not do.

The situation was a delicate one, said the Minister, and attempts to arrive at a solution should not be prejudiced by precipitate action.
