Teacher training

Sir,—l note that "proposals are also being considered for the appointment of a director of teacher training” at the Christchurch Teachers’ College. If this means a big wheel over all, I suggest that the man chosen be a keen golfer or be committed to the writing of some books. I cannot see how else he can fill in his time.—Yours, etc., J. DUGDALE. March 4, 1971.

[The chairman of Christchurch Teachers’ College Council (Dr H. E. Field) replies: “The suggestion for appointing a director of teacher training at the college has not been discussed by the council since it was established in November, 1968, and this matter is not currently bfing considered.”]
