MEETING ON BILL

Moves by C.S.S.O.

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, March 11. The Combined State Service Organisations had another meeting with the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) and Cabinet Ministers this evening on the Stabilisation of Remuneration Bill.

This was only half an hour after the C.S.S.O. had completed submissions to the Labour and Mining Committee which is studying the bill.

This evening’s meeting was a follow-up to one on Monday when the organisation asked the Prime Minister for several amendments to the bill.

The C.S.S.O. president (Mr S. J. Rodger) said that the Government had rejected most of the submissions, but the group was making further representations to ensure that the wage base-rate for public servants from January 1 would include results of next month’s halfyearly survey. This would cover, in part, movements in outside wagerates between October and December last.
