Mount Herbert vicar
The Rev? H. F. Thomson has been appointed vicar of Mount Herbert parish, which includes Diamond Harbour, Governor’s Bay, and Little River.
Mr Thomson was ordained to the ministry in 1936, and for some years served in various parishes in the Christchurch Diocese. From 1946 to 1950 he worked with the Children’s . Special Service Mission and the Scripture Union Movement, after which he was appointed vicar of Woolston, where he remained until 1961,
In 1954 he was appointed general secretary of the New Zealand Church Missionary Society in addition •to his work at Woolston. In 1961 he resigned from Woolston to be full-time secretary of the society, which position he has held until now.
