Master mariners

Captain A. P. Gale was elected warden of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Company of Master Mariners at the annual meeting. Before he became manager of the Lyttelton branch of the New Zealand Stevedoring and Wharflngering Company, Ltd, he served for many years at sea and ashore with the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd. He succeeds as warden Captain R. D. H. Wallace, an Ashburton farmer, who was formerly a Union Steam Ship Company master.

Other officers elected were: Deputy warden. Captain G. Broom; treasurer, Captain B. H. Meikle; secretary, Captain J. Twomey; committee, Captain A. E. Horler, R. D. H. Wallace, P. J. Chrisp, G. C. L. M. Mather, W. A. Siddall, T. Roberts; members of executive council, Captains H. C. Arden and T. Roberts; honorary council, Mr J. Millar; honorary auditor, Mr D. Lawrence.
