MEMBERSHIP GROWING
Senior Citizens’ group
Membership of the Christchurch Senior Citizens’ Association had increased rapidly in the last three years, said the president (Mrs M. E. Martin) in her report at the recent annual meeting. Most noticeable and pleasing was the number of men joining the association, as they were generally hesitant about joining clubs of this type, she said. Activities during the year included visits to sick members, Saturday socials, Thursday concerts, films, a fourday trip to Blenheim and four other bus trips, cards, housie, bowls, and the sale of goods from a stall in Cathedral Square to raise funds. Officers elected were: president, Mrs M. E. Martin; vice-presidents, Mesdames H. Cappard and G. Musgrave; committee, Mesdames D. Croft, M. Gilman, A. Lynch, A. Phillips, J. Prewer, M. Gwadel, V. Winter and Messrs J. Kennedy, T. Martin, L. Sanders and M. Smith.
