The international soccer federation (F.1.F.A.), announced yesterday that invitations would be sent this month to 136 affiliated national associations to compete in the 1974 World Cup competition in West Germany. F.I.F.A. expected a record number of entries; a total of 71 countries entered for the 1970 World Cup.

The groupings for the preliminary competition will be decided by the F.I.F.A. organising committee in Duesseldorf on July 15 and 16. Entries must be received before July 1.
