GLASS IN WRIST

Tennis rep’s operation (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. A recent operation revealed a piece of glass in the right wrist of the young New Zealand Davis Cup player, J. G. Simpson, but he is hopeful of playing in the Benson and Hedges Centennial Open in Auckland next week. Simpson fell on a cordial bottle before the MexicoNew Zealand Davis Cup tie in Mexico City last May and five stitches were inserted in his gashed wrist, but there was not complete relief from the injury. A fall during the Auckland championships in January’ caused further concern, and led to more medical advice being sought. It was decided to operate on the wrist a few days ago, and the cause of the trouble was removed.
