New chapel to be dedicated
A new lounge-chapel for Wesley Lodge and Hospital, run by the Christchurch Methodist Central Mission, will be dedicated by the chairman of the North Canterbury Methodist district (the Rev. W. A. Chambers) at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow. Others taking part in the service will be the superintendent of the mission (the Rev. W. E. Falkingham) and the secretary of the mission’s care of the ageing committee (Mr A. A. Dingwall). The lessons will be read by the matron of the home (Miss I. E. Macadam), and a resident who is a retired minister (the Rev. C. Blair).
The new room, which will serve both as a lounge and a chapel, has been built by extending the former lounge in Wesley Lodge. The work has cost about $15,000, but Mr Falkingham said yesterday that it would be dedicated debt-free.
