Membership drops
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. A marked decline in 1970 membership, particularly in rural areas, was reported to a meeting of the National Party executive today. A party statement tonight said that the executive was not dispirited by the decline, attributed to present adverse political conditions, on top of normal post-election year apathy.
The party’s president (Mr E. D. Holt, of Taradale) said the executive was unified and in good heart. “Our efforts are geared to the build-up of a party fighting machine for 1972,” he said.
