Report called for on education priorities
(By our education reporter)
More than 80 submissions on educational priorities have been received by the Advisory Council on Educational Planning; they will be the basis of a report called for by the Minister of Education (Mr Taiboys).
The Advisory Council was established by the Government on the recommendation of the National Development Council as the “continuing machinery” for education following the National Development Conference in 1969. The Council’s executive officer (Mr L. J. Ingham) said yesterday that the submis-
sions received so far by his organisation covered every aspect of education, from preschool and Maori education to tertiary education and educational administration.
'“These submissions are not all confined to the school system. For example, we have many dealing with the administration of the Education Department,” he said. The Advisory Council will hold a meeting on April 6 to discuss the submissions, after which it will consult selected educational organisations before submitting a final report to the Minister.
