Entered again

For the second time within a fortnight the premises of Blakeleys Industries, Ltd, Kaiapoi, were entered on Sunday night. An attempt was made to enter the company’s retail furniture and home appliance store by removing louvres from a window at the rear of the building but steel bars inside prevented access. Entry was then gained through a window to the adjoining factory premises, where a door was wrenched from a desk in the office. Exterior windows were broken also to gain entry to the factory foreman’s office and to the staff room. Double doors on the factory building were smashed when one of the firm’s trucks was backed from a nearby shed.

As far as could be ascertained nothing apart from the keys to the truck had been taken, said a director (Mr J. Blakeley) yesterday. The company is taking new security precautions.
