Forced his own hand

The former Canterbury Cricket all-rounder, A. G. Duckmanton, found his form with bat and ball this year slightly embarrassing. As sole selector-coach of the Waikato team, he had to give due recognition to his averages (about 48 with the bat and 30 wickets at about 8.1 runs each) and include himself in the side to piay Nelson recently. His team took a drubbing from Nelson, but his averages did not suffer unduly. He was 26 not out and five in the two innings and took one wicket for 21 from seven overs. Duckmanton has been in Hamilton for 14 months.
