HOUSE LOST

(N.Z. Press Association'

DUNEDIN, Feb. 23. A $30,000 farmhouse near Omakau was gutted by fire this afternoon while the owner was away on his honeymoon.

Mr R. Samuel, of Drybread, was married in Dunedin yesterday and he and his new wife were called to Omakau today with the news that their home and most of its contents had been destroyed. The unoccupied fourbedroom farmhouse was only seven years old. The Omakau Volunteer Brigade was called but the fire had too strong a hold to be beaten. The cause of the fire is not known, but the police say there were no suspicious 'circumstances. A widower before his marriage last evening, Mr Samuel, aged about 40, had left the farm earlier in the day. His family have occupied the farm and the large run for three generations
