Graham Hill will be No. 1 driver for the Brabham Grand Prix team this season, but a second driver has not yet been chosen. # 9 * The last R.A.T.E.C. club night rally was won by G. Harrow (Cortina GT) with a loss of 46.4 points, and Mrs E. Caldow (Cortina GT) was second with a loss bf 60.6. L. Wilson (Hillman Hunter, 111.6) was third, and P. Marryatt (Cortina, 284.9) was fourth. * * * The Formula II line-up in Europe this season will include D. Beil and H. Pescarolo in March 711 cars fielded by the Frank Williams team. Pescarolo will also drive a Formula I March in Grands Prix.
Drivers in the official Lotus Formula II team in Europe this year will be Reine Wisell—who will also drive in Formula l—and a 23-year-old driver from Scotland, Richard Scott. Scott did well in Formula 111 last year. # * * Jackie Stewart crashed his Tyrrell-Ford Formula I car while tyre-testing in South Africa recently. A stone had lodged in the throttle mechanism, jamming the throttles open on the approach to a comer when Stewart was braking from about 170 m.p.h. The car was wrecked, but Stewart was unhurt. * * * At present Ford plans to make three of its new midengined GT7O cars (the “baby GT4O”) for European rallies, then 500 more for sale in Britain at a cost of about $6OOO each. The V6-powered cars are said to have a top speed of about 135 m.p.h.
