Petrol tax not wanted
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, Feb 18. Kaikohe borough does not need the petrol tax, the town’s mayor, Mr P. M. E. Williams told the Minister of Works and chairman of the National Roads Board (Mr Allen). Members of the board visited Kaikohe yesterday. “We have always managed to balance our budget, and will continue to do so,” the Mayor said. Mr Williams said the borough share of the petrol tax would be about $15,000.
