WAIMAIRI PERMITS
Building permits to a value of $424,457 were issued by the Waimairi County Council in January, compared with $416,941 in January, 1970. Twenty house permits worth $237,962 were issued last month, compared with 28 permits worth $299,450 a year ago, and five permits for blocks of flats were valued at $82,783, compared with two permits worth $29,000.
The average cost per square foot for house construction in January was $B.Ol, compared with $7.46 a year ago, and cost for flat construction rose from $7.17 to $7.23.
