UNUSUAL INQUIRY

(N.Z. Press Association) GORE. A complaint was lodged with the judicial committee of the Gore Racing Club on Saturday against actions by the starter at the club’s summer meeting a fortnight earlier. Mr T. R. Allison, a part-owner of Bonny BeUe, lodged a complaint against the starter using a whip on his horse at the start of the Fendale Handicap No. 1. The committee reported that after hearing evidence it was found that the starter, Mr A. S. McKay, had used the whip in an endeavour to persuade Bonny BeUe to enter the staUs. The horse was fractious and kicking violently. The committee said it was also found that there was no question of cruelty to the horse, but Mr McKay was spoken to by the committee and informed that In future he must refrain from using the whip at the start.
