Natural gas takes over

(N.Z. Press Association.

WELLINGTON, Feb. 14.

Towering flares of manufactured gas will be burnt off in the Johnsonville area about 5 o’clock on Monday morning. Johnsonville is the first of about 40 sections in Wellington City to be converted to natural gas and the bum-off on Monday will clear the way for the 60 or so customers in the section to have their stoves converted. The burn-off will take two or three hours.. Gas workers will then call at every house to shut off pilot flames, and tell the occupants not to use any gas equipment. The meters will be read at the same time.

Within the next two days, the appliances in each house will be converted for natural gas.
