HEAVY LOSS

N.Z. 0-5 to Australia (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. New Zealand lost all five matches in the tennis “test” against Australia on the Central Park courts at the week-end. j After trailing, 0-2, from 'Saturday’s opening singles. New Zealand had one of its worst days in international tennis yesterday. From three matches—the reverse singles and a doubles—it managed to win only one set. This consolation came late in the day when D. A. Parun and J. G. Simpson took a set off R. Giltinan and C. Dibley in the doubles, before going down, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, 1-6. Earlier, the Australian pair had scored straight-set victories in the reverse singles. Dibley beat an improved Parun, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3, and Giltinan defeated Simpson, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. One of yesterday’s biggest disappointments was the form of Simpson who, on Saturday, had taken Dibley to five sets. However, the longer Simpson played, the more his game deteriorated, until in the doubles he was so out of touch he dropped his service six times. In the opening singles on Saturday, Parun had played atrociously in his international debut, losing 1-6, 0-6, 1-6, to Giltinan. Dibley beat Simpson, 6-3, 2-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
