Deaths on road in North

A man was killed on Saturday night when his car and an Army truck collided 2J miles south of Clevedon, near Papakura, according to a Press Association message. He was Wilfred William James Rabbetts, aged 47, of Quarry Road, Drury. '

Mr Rabbetts was one of six persons killed in North Island road accidents at the weekend.

Eight Territorial soldiers, who were travelling in the back of the Army vehicle were injured. Four, who were going through the first phase of their annual training at Papakura Military Camp, were admitted to hospital. The others were treated and discharged. Messrs G. E. Bruce Kenneth Freeman, aged 20, married, with one child.

Mr Freeman had been working sheep on the tractor on a property owned by the Waipipi Estate, Waitotara. When the mishap occurred, the tractor roiled once, crushing the driver, and rolled back on to its wheels. Mr Freeman is believed to have been killed .instantly.
