WOMEN’S CRICKET

First win for Hagley

Hagley gained its first win of the season with a good win over St Albans II when the second day’s play of the senior women’s cricket competition was completed on Saturday.

In the other match, Western, chasing 220 scored by St Albans I on the first day, overtook this total to win on the first innings with 224.

S. Cowles (76), and T. Prestage (67) led a good fight-back. However, because of a discrepancy in the books this decision could be altered by the competitions’ committee. .

Scores were:— Hagley 181/3 declared (R. Murray 53, P. Quickenden 47 not out, H. Kirk 20, O. Williams 23) and 5/2 beat St Albans II 115 and 69 (D. Jelley 17, V. McGregor 18; O. Williams 3/24, R. Murray 3/21, P. Quickenden 2/9, P. Reynolds 1/2), outright. Western 224 (S. Cowles 76, T. Prestage 67; S. Vaughan 4/82, K. 5/64) beat St Albans I 220 on the first innings. Intermediate St Albans in 99 (B. D’Auvergne 34, C. Theile 26; S.- Roberts 8/47, J. Lee 2/19) beat Mai Moa 42 (J. Home 7/22) and 110/3 (J. Stewart 35 not out, J. Crowley 32, J. Lee 31) on the first Innings.
