Wreck salvage

Gold coins worth about $30,000 have been recovered from the wreck of an eighteenth century Dutch ship off the coast of Western Australia. The ship Zuytdorp sank 400 miles north of Perth, in 1712. Skindivers at the week-end brought up more than 3500 coins, some dated 1675, a small bronze cannon, a ship’s bell and a navigator’s divider.—Sydney, February 3.
