Beef loaded in container
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 3. The stowage of a container of beef weighing 36,0001 b was completed at Feilding today. The container, the first of four, was loaded at the works of Thomas Borthwick and Sons (A’sia), Ltd. It formed part of the first shipment of beef by container to inland United States. The beef was loaded on modules in cartons as part of a trial being made by the Meat Industry Carton Committee, in conjunction with the Meat Board, to discover the most efficient loading method.
