Fatal fire

Thirteen children, aged between 10 and 15, died when fire gutted three wards of a Roman Catholic mental home in Rolde, the Netherlands, early today. None of the victims has been identified. The fire began just before midnight in a ward containing about 30 patients, whose ages range from 10 to 50, and the flames spread quickly to two other wards.—Rolde, February 3.
