FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A shallow, slow-moving depression covering much of the Tasman extends on to New Zealand, while a slowmoving anticyclone lies south of the country. Forecast:
Canterbury.—North-easterlies, mainly moderate; cloudy, with areas of rain, mainly about and north of Banks Peninsula; a few drizzle patches on the southern coasts; cool to moderate temperatures.
Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate south-easterlies on the Cook Strait coast; winds elsewhere mainly light or moderate and variable; cloudy, with some areas of rain this morning, but probably variable skies with only a few showers by afternoon; rather mild. Buller and Westland.—Moderate, variable winds; rather cloudy and mild; some scattered rain, chiefly in the northern half of the area.
Outlook.— Probably a few showers, mainly in Marlborough and Nelson; morning drizzle on the east coast.
