REEFTON TO RACE TODAY

The Reefton Jockey Club yesterday made the third postponement In as many years of its January race meeting. Reefton club officials blame too little rain for its decision to postpone its meeting until today. The few points of rain on Tuesday night made the track greasy and dangerous* in the opinion of senior jockeys who inspected the track yesterday morning. If the rain had continued and the water had soaked in, it is thought the track would have given safe footing. “It is the jockeys who have to ride on the track, so we take their advice,” said the Reefton club’s secretary, Mr S. Baxter, yesterday. Mr Baxter said that by 9 a.m. the track and weather were ideal for racing, but the decision had been made. Selections:—
