CLOSED BOOKS
Apart from “Coronation Street,” which stands on its own, “Dr Finlay’s Casebook" is probably one of the most enduring and popular of British television programmes. And it has come to an end; the last page in the book was turned in Britain last Sunday with a story called “The Burgess Ticket.” The man who directed the final story in the final series, Robert Mclntosh, helped to set up the B.B.C’s first drama series in colour, “The Expert.” Another long-run series, “Please Sir” had its final episode (with the marriage of John Aiderton and Jill Kerman) at the end of December. Potter is the chief usher at the wedding, which inevitably, is attended by I members of SC.
