Athlete in plane crash
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND.
The Olympic runner, W. D. Baillie, escaped injury when the light aircraft he was piloting crashed on landing at the North Shore airfield near Albany, late yesterday morning. He was landing the Cessna 172 at the North Shore Aero Club’s field at Dairy Flat when the nose-wheel apparently collapsed. The plane skidded on its nose for about 20 yards before coming to rest right side up. The propeller and under side of the engine of the single motor were damaged.
