AIR-LIFT TO WAIOURU

Territorials’ training

Fifty-two Territorial Force soldiers of the Ist Squadron of New Zealand Scottish Regiment will board a Royal New Zealand Air Force Hercules aircraft at Harewood on Saturday to fly to Waiouru Military Camp. There, the men will spend two weeks learning to handle the United States-built armoured personnel carriers the Army acquired last year, and when they return to Christchurch five of the vehicles will come with them. The men will be the first Territorial Force soldiers to undergo specialist training on the carriers. The vehicles they will bring back will be based at Bumham Military Camp, where they will be used for further training.
