Winning run should continue at Rotorua

"The Press’* Special Service AUCKLAND. Th* Christchurch combination of th* 4r*in*r, G. B. Nobl*, and driver, D. Mangos, should carry on thoir winning way at Rotorua today. They look to have outstanding prospects of winning the Rotorua Trotting Cup with Rain Again, the New Zealand Futurity Stakes with Roydon Roux and the Second Arawa Park Handicap with Heather Royal. Noble had four winners at the Auckland Trotting Cup meeting. All were driven by Mangos, who also scored twice with Holy Hal. Rain Again was highly impressive when he won the New Year Free-for-all on Thursday, especially as he was far from comfortable on the righthand track. Back to the lefthand way round today, he looks |to have a second-to-none chance lin the Cup. ■ Jack Tar and Charlie Mack may provide the strongest opposition. Jack Tar is beginning much better these days and, Charlie Mack was a creditable second to Rain Again off level marks at Alexandra Park on Thursday. Corsair, a dual winner at Whangarel last month, looks a ready-made ’ favourite for the Teachers Whiskey Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.B. concession double. Kilarno and Regal Venture, two other limit markers, might make him work hard. Both have plenty of speed and the distance of nine furlongs and a half will suit them. Roydon Roux is bound to be at short odds in the New Zealand Futurity Stakes. She performed brilliantly for third in the New Zealand Juvenile Championship at Alexandra Park on Thursday after she started from the second row and this time does not have to contend with Double Cash or Armbro Ffee. The weather yesterday was fine and sunny and there is every likelihood of the track being very fast.
