Mr Owens is optimistic (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. Mr R. A. Owens, the Tauranga businessman who is . heading a New Zealand bid to gain control of the Union Steam Ship Company, said tonight that he was very close to the stage of negotiating with the company’s : owner, the P and O Group.
