BRITISH LEVY

Comment by P.M. (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 21. The question of reciprocal action was always considered when trading arrangements were being considered, the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake), told reporters tonight after Cabinet. He had been asked whether the Government had given any consideration to changes in New Zealand’s tariff treatment of British imports in view of the proposed levy on meat imports into the United Kingdom. Sir Keith Holyoake said that the levy question had not been settled. The ball was still in the British court and the Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Marshall), had been authorised ,to complete arrangements. An announcement would probably be made this week.
