Twizel school principal

The first principal of the Twizel High School was named in Christchurch yesterday after a meeting of the appointments committee of the Canterbury Education Board. He is Mr N. Green who for the last three years has been head of the English department at Southland College, Invercargill. Mr Green received his training as a primary teacher before World War 11. He served overseas with the New Zealand forces for four years. He taught in the primary service from 1945 to 1955, then taking up a secondary position at Rangiteki College, Palmerston North, where he served from 1955 to 1961.

Before going to Southland College Mr Green was on the staff of Wanganui. Boys’ College for two years. The Twizel High School, which will cater for pupils from Forms I to VII, will open next February and will ultimately have a roll of more than 450. X
