Six houses burgled

Six houses were burgled at the week-end and on Friday five of these were entered during the day. Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. yesterday a radio worth $4O was stolen from a house in Gloucester Street, Linwood, and sometime during yesterday £24 was stolen from a house in Hasketts Road, Templeton. Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday $24 was stolen from a house in Konini Street, Riccarton, and $3O was stolen from a house in Chester Street about the same time. About $5B was stolen from a house in Willryan Avenue, Wainoni, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, and on Friday night a record player worth $47 was stolen from a house in Holly Road. Clothing worth $613 was stolen from Venus Creations, 101 Manchester Street, between December 4 and December 7, and the premises of D. J. Fawke, hairdresser and tobacconist, 141 Manchester Street, were entered and $3O stolen. A safe containing $5O was taken from the premises of

W. A. Brown, Gasson Street, at the week-end. The safe was found in Bexley yesterday. It had been forced open and the money removed. Cigarettes and food worth $l4B was stolen from the Kennish Supermarket, 279 Wainoni Road, when the premises were broken into on Saturday night, and Cigarettes worth $2O were stolen from the Copper Tea Pot, Riccarton Road.
