Good go by Mr Went

A runaway sheep caused considerable excitement in Sydenham yesterday morning. The sheep, wearing a leather collar, was at liberty for two hours before being cornered in an Orbell Street factory. Mr D. Went, an employee of J. Deyeli and Company, a carrying firm, caught the sheep after chasing it through two or three properties. He was the last of a long line of hopeful apprehended who tried their luck as the sheep dashed through various yards, factories, and streets. “Just as I caught It two chaps came up in a truck and said they had been after it for two hours,” said Mr Went “They said It came from Ashburton, but they didn’t say how it came to be wearing a collar.”
