TWIZEL SCHOOL
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. Tenders are to be called immediately for the construction of a form I to VII high school at the hydro-electric scheme township of Twizel. This advice has been received by the member for South Canterbury (Mr R. L. G. Talbot) from the Minister of Education (Mr Taiboys). Mr Taiboys said the first stage of the new school, which should be available in the latter half of 1971, would comprise eight classrooms, a library, a laboratory, and specialist rooms for art and crafts, typing, homecraft, woodwork and metalwork. There would also be a modelling bay and an administrative block. Because of the rapid growth of the township, it is proposed that the high school pupils will be temporarily housed during the earlier part of 1971 on the primary school site.
